Alex Rodriguez's legal team will challenge Major League Baseball's assertion that he has committed multiple violations of its drug policy.

Rodriguez was suspended for 211 games earlier this month for what baseball alleged was his use of banned substances over "multiple years," among other violations.

David Cornwell, Rodriguez's attorney, said in an interview with WFAN that Rodriguez's legal team will challenge that allegation during its appeal of the suspension.

Cornwell also denied reports that Rodriguez's lawyers attempted to broker a deal with MLB that would have allowed the three-time MVP to accept a 100-game ban, retire and recoup his remaining salary.

"No, it did not happen," Cornwell said.
