If Alex Rodriguez doesn't accept a suspension for the remainder of this season and all of 2014 without pay, Major League Baseball will pursue a lifetime ban, according to a source.

Doing so would allow Rodriguez to collect the $60 million owed to him by the New York Yankees from 2015 to 2017.

A source close to Rodriguez said the player was sticking to his story that he has done nothing wrong and was unwilling to cut a deal.
