Chris Davis hit an eye-popping 37 home runs in the first half of the season, setting an American League record for long balls at the All-Star break.

Davis, who is hitting .315/.392/.717, smacked a career-high 33 home runs for the Orioles in 2012.

In today's baseball culture, there is immediate suspicion when a player hits an inordinate number of home runs. However, Davis insists that he's clean and he wants fans to get behind him.

He told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that he's been tested for performance-enhancing drugs so often this year that he has lost count.
