After signing a two-year, $26 million deal with the Red Sox last winter, David Ortiz has been on an offensive tear this season.

Ortiz remains an icon in the city of Boston and the slugger says he never really thought about signing with a team over than the Red Sox.

"My baseball home is Boston, obviously. And basically it's my home because out of the 12 months I'm here nine," Ortiz said. "It's a relationship that you start building up. You don't dictate it because you don't know -- tomorrow you can get traded. But in my case, I've been lucky, being able to play 11 seasons here.

"To be honest with you, all those years I got to free agency, I never thought about going somewhere else," he added. "I feel like I'm a big part of these ball clubs. I feel like what I was asking for wasn't anything they couldn't give me. You look into situations, and I never had the feeling that I was going to go somewhere else, to be honest with you."
