The Marlins issued a verbal promise to Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle last offseason when they signed with the team as free agents that they wouldn't be traded, according to Major League sources.

The pair are now upset that Miami is in the process of sending them to Toronto in a major trade.

The Marlins don't issue no-trade clauses, but assurances were made during the recruiting process that no swaps would be made.

Buehrle was well aware of the team's history of shedding contracts and was concerned prior to signing.
