The Diamondbacks were weak at third base this past season and a certain slugger might be available via trade this winter.

Arizona used Ryan Roberts, Josh Bell, Chris Johnson, Ryan Wheeler and Cody Ransom at the position.

"I think there will certainly be interest," manager Kirk Gibson told Arizona Sport 620's Burns and Gambo when asked about the team pursuing Alex Rodriguez.

"It happens with players all the time throughout the history of the game. Guys think they're washed up, they go somewhere else to get a breath of fresh air, revitalize themselves and they have quite a few years left in them," he added. "It happened to me when I was getting older. My career guys were questioning whether my bat was fast enough. You have to deal with it. There's a lot left, I think, in Alex Rodriguez."
