The Angels are behind three teams in the race for a Wild Card berth despite spending $320 million on one day in December and acquiring Zack Greinke in a July trade.

However, Jerry Dipoto, who orchestrated those moves in his first year as general manager, is not ready to accept the label of $159 million disappointment for his team.

"At this point, I won't qualify it as a disappointment. We have 18 games left and we're in a position at the end to control our own destiny," Dipoto said.
