Alex Rodriguez was in the lineup for the Yankees on Monday for the first time since July 24.
He suffered a broken hand when he was hit by a pitch against the Mariners.
"I feel like Big Brother was away for a while," Rodriguez said. "We have a couple of other brothers that are coming back soon. I think we're right where we want to be."
He was in the lineup against Tampa Bay as New York's designated hitter and hit cleanup as the Yankees deal with other injuries (Mark Teixeira, Curtis Granderson).
With Rodriguez out, the Yankees went 18-18 and saw their lead in the American League East drop from seven games over the Orioles to just two.
