Joba Chamberlain is a candidate to be demoted to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre when the Yankees activate CC Sabathia from the disabled list.

New York would then promote the Chamberlain back to the Major Leagues when rosters expand on Sept. 1.

Since his return from elbow and ankle surgery, Chamberlain has allowed 15 hits (two home runs) in seven appearances. His ERA is 9.45.
