The 2012 postseason will begin on Oct. 5 as the inaugural Wild Card games are played in both the American and National League. Major League Baseball has announced the schedule from the Wild Card contests through the 108th World Series, which will begin on Oct. 24. There is no longer a rule barring teams in the same division from meeting in the Division Series, or now in the Wild Card games.
