Chone Figgins has been a monumental disappointment in Seattle and Larry Stone of the Seattle Times writes that now is as good a time as any for the team to cut ties.
Eric Wedge said in May that cutting Figgins wasn't an option. But Figgins hasn't played much, or produced, since.
Figgins is owed about $2.7 million over the remainder of the season and $8 million for 2013.
Stone argues that the mistake has been made and Seattle is going to have to pay the money regardless. The Mariners could at least use the roster spot on a capable player with a future on the team.
