Kevin Youkilis went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored on Monday night in his return to Boston for the first time since he was traded to the White Sox on June 24.
The Red Sox defeated Chicago 5-1, making it a bittersweet return for the third baseman.
The crowd at Fenway Park gave Youkilis a huge ovation prior to his first at-bat in the top of the first inning.
"It was a great ovation and a cool thing by the fans," he said. "They've been great to me and I can't say thank you enough for the support they've given me.
"The place was pretty loud and rocking and it was really cool. I wish it could have ended better and wish we could have won the game."
