Cardinals right-hander Chris Carpenter will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the 2012 season. Carpenter, who is currently rehabbing from a nerve-related shoulder injury, did not throw his scheduled bullpen on Monday. The 37-year-old pitcher has been dealing with neck and shoulder issues since spring training.
