Daniel Bard, who the Red Sox converted to a starter before the season, matched his shortest outing of 2012 on Friday night against the Phillies. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed five runs on three hits with five walks in five innings. Philadelphia scored four runs in the first inning alone. "I'm still getting out of my relieving mode and I needed to be more aggressive there," Bard said of the first inning. "This loss is definitely on me." Said Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine: "Those amount of walks are not acceptable. He just didn't have command."
