The Cardinals and Yadier Molina have expressed mutual interest in getting a long-term contract done. Talks between the two sides are ongoing, but St. Louis has a history of negotiating with players in Spring Training. They negotiated a deal with Adam Wainwright in the spring and they attempted to do so with Albert Pujols last year. Molina has expressed a desire, but not a demand, that something be finalized by Opening Day.
