The Yankees are "not completely out" of the race to sign Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, according to a source. As many as six teams are interested in Cespedes and New York may be one of them. "They're just laying in the weeds right now," said the source, "but don't be surprised if they get involved once Cespedes declares free agency." Cespedes needs to establish residence in the Dominican Republic, where he is currently playing winter ball, before he can become a free agent. That is expected to happen either by the end of January or early in February.
