Josh Hamilton will become a free agent after the 2012 season if a contract extension isn't reached.
He said recently that he has set a deadline of the start of Spring Training for talks. Hamilton doesn't want any distractions as he prepares for the season.
Texas met with free-agent first baseman Prince Fielder on Friday, adding some drama into the mix, but Hamilton said he isn't concerned about the development.
"There's nothing to worry about," he said. "I haven't thought about any impact on my talks. I'm focused on this year. I'm focused on making this year great for me and the team. I think a lineup with me and Prince would be crazy. It would really be amazing."
