The Red Sox have reached agreement on a one-year major league contract with free-agent catcher Kelly Shoppach, according to a source. A source said Shoppach will make a base salary of $1.35 million, plus performance bonuses. Shoppach made $3 million last year in Tampa Bay, where he hit .176 in 87 games. The Red Sox selected Shoppach out of Baylor University in the second round of the 2001 draft. Shoppach spent five years in the Boston organization before going to Cleveland as part of a seven-player trade in 2006.
