The Braves have declined to offer salary arbitration to veteran shortstop Alex Gonzalez.
Atlanta has made it known that they want to part ways with Gonzalez.
Offering him arbitration would have guaranteed them draft pick compensation if he signed elsewhere, but they were not willing to do so with the risk of him receiving a one-year contract worth approximately $4 million.
Gonzalez batted .241 with 15 home runs and a .642 OPS in 149 games with the Braves last season.
