Mets general manager Sandy Alderson has spoken with the representatives for Jose Reyes since the free-agent shortstop's visit last week to Miami. Following the conversation, Alderson is under the impression that Reyes will not sign a contract with any team in the very near future. However, Alderson added that Jonathan Papelbon quickly signed with the Phillies, so anything could happen. "I've said in the past, these things typically go slowly," Alderson said. "But apparently Papelbon is already signed." Alderson added that he does not expect Reyes' agent, Peter Greenberg, to meet with teams at this week's general managers meetings because Greenberg is out of the country.
