It appears as though Jason Giambi will return to the Rockies next season when he exercises the mutual option on his $1 million contract. Giambi has to make his decision by Monday and then Colorado will have until Wednesday to pick up their half of the agreement. However, it's likely there will be a joint announcement Monday given Giambi's thinking and the team's desire to bring him back.
