Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington's first order of business will be to find a manager to replace Terry Francona. The organization felt that pitching coach John Farrell would replace Francona whenever he left, but that was before Farrell left to become the manager of the Blue Jays. League sources say they would be surprised if the Blue Jays allowed the Red Sox to speak with Farrell, who has two years left on his contract with the Jays, but Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos left the door open. "Selfishly, I don't want any of our guys to leave, but at the same time I hope all of our employees have opportunities to better themselves, whether it's responsibilities, financial, whatever it might be," Anthopoulos said over the weekend. At this point the Red Sox have not contacted the Blue Jays regarding Farrell, according to another league source.
