The Yankees will be looking to add a top pitcher to their starting rotation this winter and young prospect Jesus Montero could be involved in trade talks.
A Major League scout has surmised that the Yankees might be able to convince the offensively-challenged Giants to trade Matt Cain for Montero.
The Yankees would rather go the free agency route to add a pitcher and C.J. Wilson to expected to be the top prize. However, New York isn't likely to go to extremes to sign him.
New York general manager Brian Cashman was willing to deal Montero to the Mariners for Cliff Lee back in 2010 and he has said since that in order to trade Montero he'd have to receive that type of elite pitcher.
