Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard suffered an Achilles injury on the final at-bat of the team's 1-0 loss to the Cardinals on Friday night. The defeat eliminated Philadelphia from the playoffs. "I was trying to run, and I felt a pop," Howard said. "It felt like the whole thing was on fire. It felt like I was on a flat tire. I tried to get up, but couldn't go." He grounded out to end the game and hurt himself while breaking out of the batter's box, crumpling to the ground before he was helped off the field by the training staff.
