Rays left-handed reliever J.P. Howell accepted the blame for Monday's Game 3 loss to the Rangers.
"Disgusting," Howell said. "It made me sick. I feel bad. I feel terrible.
"I feel like the loser. I feel like the reason why (we lost)."
Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon made a controversial decision to put Howell on the 25-man playoff roster.
In the seventh inning of Game 3, with the bases loaded, two outs and the Rangers leading 2-1, Howell came in to face Josh Hamilton.
Hamilton hit a two-run single of the lefty reliever.
"That's one of the big reasons why J.P. was here, to pitch to that fellow," Maddon said. "He had decent success in the past."
