Cubs scouting director Tim Wilken will return to the team in 2012, but he will not receive a contract extension. Oneri Fleita, Chicago's player personnel director, received an extension recently. Wilken was signed through next year, but a new general manager has the option of choosing his own people in the scouting department. The Cubs are still searching for a new general manager.
