The Cardinals believe balance is the reason pitcher Jaime Garcia has struggled as of late. Garcia met with St. Louis manager Tony La Russa and pitching coach Dave Duncan to discuss why the left-hander has seen a decrease in productivity. La Russa and Duncan insist Garcia's issue is mechanical rather than physical. Garcia, whose earned-run average has jumped from 3.01 to 3.42 in his last four starts, is not maintaining proper balance through his delivery, which results in an inability to properly finish pitches, according to Duncan. "He's getting himself out of balance," Duncan said, "and I think he finally realizes he needs to do something about it."
