Diamondbacks first baseman Xavier Nady was hit by a pitch on Friday night against the Mets, suffering a fractured left hand in the process.
"It's a big blow to us," manager Kirk Gibson said. "He was playing great. ... He had a great role on the team with his veteran [leadership]."
Nady was hitting .248 in 81 games, with four home runs and 35 RBIs.
