Padres first baseman/outfielder Brad Hawpe underwent season-ending "Tommy John" elbow reconstruction surgery on Friday. Hawpe, 31, hadn't played since June 18 and went on the disabled list three days later due to a strained right middle finger. The elbow was already bothering Hawpe before the finger injury.
