Rays left-handed pitching prospect Matt Moore is pitching impressively for the Montgomery Biscuits of the Double-A Southern League this season.
Moore is 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA in 17 starts. He has recorded 125 strikeouts and just 26 walks in 96 2/3 innings. Opposing batters are hitting just .179 against him.
He has been hot as of late, going 5-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 77 strikeouts over his last 10 starts. Moore has a 4.8-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio over the stretch.
Tampa Bay selected Moore with a 245th overall pick (eighth round) in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
Moore led the Minors with 208 strikeouts in 2010, becoming the first Minor Leaguer to eclipse 200 strikeouts since Francisco Liriano in 2005.
