Derek Jeter hopes to return to the lineup for the Yankees on June 29. The shortstop worked out in the field on Tuesday as he makes his way back from a strained calf muscle that has derailed his chase for 3,000 hits. He is just six shy of the milestone. Jeter is eligible to return on June 29, but manager Joe Girardi did say that he'll likely need a minor-league rehab game or two before coming back. "You may want him to go through a game just to see how he feels and how he bounces back the next day," Girardi said. "The one thing you'd hate is if he was to come back, play a day and then have to take a couple days off."
