The Mets will consider signing Scott Kazmir, who was released by the Angels earlier this week. New York infamously traded Kazmir, then their top pitching prospect and a first round draft choice, to Tampa Bay in 2004 for pitcher Victor Zambrano. Kazmir, 27, started Game 1 of the World Series for the Rays a few years later. He had a 17.02 earned run average in five Triple-A starts this season before his release. Sandy Alderson said Thursday that his team would consider Kazmir. "We look at everybody who hits the wire, and the same would apply to him," said the general manager.
