Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes threw to hitters for the first time since April 14 on Saturday. Everyone involved professed to be happy with the session, but it's unlikely that he'll return to the major league roster until after the All-Star break. Hughes threw 23 pitches to teammates Francisco Cervelli and Chris Dickerson and manager Joe Girardi said in reference to his velocity, "I didn't see anything fall off." The Yankees did not use a radar gun on Hughes, who suffered a significant loss of velocity before being placed on the disabled list with what was officially termed "right shoulder inflammation," but might just as well have been called a dislocated fastball, on April 15.
