Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer hit the first home run of his young major-league career on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Hosmer, who came into the game hitting .250, smacked a solo shot off New York's A.J. Burnett in the fourth inning.
He made his major-league debut for Kansas City on May 6.
The Royals drafted Hosmer with the third overall pick of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
