The Mets could trade shortstop Jose Reyes this summer, getting a haul of players in return, and then re-sign him this winter. However, New York general manager Sandy Alderson says such a move is unlikely. "I think that's unlikely," Alderson said. "I think if you go back and look historically at similar cases, you'll probably find very few examples of that." Keeping Reyes may be just as risky as trading him. The two sides are unlikely to discuss an extension during the season and there is no guarantee he'll re-sign.
