Jed Lowrie hit sixth and played shortstop for the Red Sox on Sunday against the Blue Jays.
He hit leadoff on Saturday and has played multiple roles for Boston already this season.
"Jed's so hot right now, I don't know how you can keep a guy like that out," manager Terry Francona said.
He was expected by many to be a utility player for the Red Sox, but he's played in 10 of the team's 14 games.
Lowrie is hitting .462 with a home run and an OBP of .500.
