This past off-season, New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine deferred $3 million of the $10.5 million owed to him in 2006 until next year to help the Mets hold their payroll at $101 million.
The southpaw also had an '07 option added. If the team picks it up, Glavine would be guaranteed more than $11 million - including the deferred money.
Though Glavine has not committed fully to staing in NYC, it seems very likely.
"At this point in time I would be more surprised to not be here than to be here," he said.
