Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood threw 5 scoreless innings and recorded 12 strikeouts during a rehab appearance Sunday with the Cubs? Class A affiliate, the Peoria Chiefs, the Associated Press is reporting.
In Peoria?s 5-3 win over Lansing in extra innings, Wood, who has been on the disabled list since March 28, gave up one hit, one walk and hit a batter on his way to a no decision.
?I probably have got one more (minor league appearance), and then I?ll be ready to go,? the right-hander said. ?I feel good and I?ve been recovering pretty well. I just need to get that pitch count up there and be able to go deep into games.?
Wood threw a total of 70 pitches and remained accurate during his outing, throwing 51 strikes and 19 balls.
