Mets right fielder Carlos Beltran received a cortisone shot in his left knee Friday morning, which was administered by team doctor Struan Coleman, according to an ESPN.com report. Beltran had taken swings from the left side of the plate that morning for the first time since getting shut down with left knee tendinitis and said he was able to "tolerate" the discomfort. GM Sandy Alderson said the decision to give Beltran the injection already had been made.
