Yankees general manager Brian Cashman called the agent for Derek Jeter, Casey Close, to clarify his recent comments about the shortstop moving to center field. "I did talk to Casey Close," Cashman said. "He asked, 'Hey, what's going on?' Because they were receiving a lot of calls. And I explained everything to him. Hopefully I sufficed. "I haven't talked to Derek. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to explain. This thing has taken on a life of its own, but it is what it is. We're all good." Speaking Tuesday with WFAN's Mike Francesa, Cashman said that if Jeter doesn't last at shortstop for the life of his new four-year deal, he could see Jeter moving to center field, as opposed to one of the corner infield spots.
