The Kansas City Royals have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Kyle Davies on a one-year contract for 2011, avoiding arbitration. Consistent with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The deal leaves first baseman Billy Butler as the Royals only unsigned arbitration-eligible player. Davies, 27, was 8-12 with a 5.34 ERA in a career-high 32 starts for the Royals in 2010. The right-hander, acquired from the Braves on July 31, 2007, is 42-56 with a 5.49 ERA in 138 career Major League games (131 starts), including a 28-35 record with a 5.15 ERA in 86 starts for Kansas City.
