Former Royals pitcher Brian Bannister has signed a contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Central League. The right-hander, 29, has signed a one-year deal worth $1.8 million. Bannister went 7-12 with a 6.34 ERA in 24 games for Kansas City before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2010 season.
