David Wright awoke yesterday with an aching groin, an ugly bruise beneath his left armpit and the news that the Marlins had called the Mets during spring training and suggested trading him for Dontrelle Willis. General manager Omar Minaya immediately nixed that idea, as Newsday reported yesterday, which meant Wright has one less thing to worry about - until it comes time to negotiate a long-term contract. Wright said he was flattered to have his name thrown out there for someone like Willis, but added, "on the other hand, I'd rather not be mentioned in trade talks because I don't want to go anywhere else." He was in the lineup yesterday despite getting drilled by Padres reliever Jon Adkins the previous night, but the sore groin muscle was hurting him more than the baseball did. Wright felt a sharp pain in his groin when he tried to get out of the way, and stayed on the ground, with his face in the dirt, because he was worried about a serious strain. "That's what scared me," Wright said. "I could feel it, but it's not hampering me at all."
