Talks between the Yankees and free-agent closer Mariano Rivera are going smoothly, according to a source. Rivera and New York are not far apart on a deal and a source called the talks like "night and day" when compared to negotiations with shortstop Derek Jeter. A second official with knowledge of the Rivera talks said the reliever is looking for a raise from the $15 million he received last season, but the Yankees view his demands as much more reasonable than Jeter's.
