The Mets aren't expected to be big players in the free agent market this winter as they focus on finding a new manager. "We want to be in the [free-agent] market every year," Sandy Alderson said when he was introduced as New York's general manager last week. "Will we be in the market this year aggressively? Unlikely." Alderson was scheduled to meet with three potential managerial candidates this weekend -- Wally Backman, Terry Collins and Chip Hale.
