The Mets will introduce Sandy Alderson as their new general manager on Friday afternoon.
Alderson will become the 12th general manager in the team's history.
He will receive a four-year contract with the team, according to sources.
Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is allowing Alderson, 62, to leave his post as a consultant for Major League Baseball to lead the organization's baseball operations department.
