The Mets initially had a list of 32 potential general manager candidates, but they have whittled the number down to 5-7, according to a report in The New York Post.
The team officially announced on Monday that general manager Omar Minaya won't return in 2011.
The list of potential targets is believed to include White Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn, former Twins GM Terry Ryan, former Oakland GM Sandy Alderson and former Cleveland/Texas GM John Hart.
