The Royals have exercised their 2011 club option on outfielder David DeJesus. Consistent with club policy, terms of the option were not disclosed. The 30-year old DeJesus hit .318 with 23 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 37 RBI and 46 runs scored in 91 games for the Royals in 2010 before undergoing season-ending surgery on his right thumb on July 26. He suffered the injury crashing into the center field wall at Yankee Stadium on July 22. The longest-tenured Royal, the former fourth round selection in 2000 is a career .289 hitter since making his debut for KC in 2003.
