Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter admitted after Wednesday night's loss to the Rays that he faked being hit by a pitch in the seventh inning. "It hit the bat," Jeter said. "He told me to go to first. I'm not going to tell him, 'I'm not going to go to first,' you know? My job is to get on base." Curtis Granderson later hit a two-run home run, giving New York a momentary 3-2 lead. "It's part of the game," Jeter said. "I've been hit before and they said I wasn't hit. My job is to get on base, and fortunately for us it paid off at the time. I'm sure it would have been a bigger story if we would have won that game." Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon was ejected during the sequence.
