The New York Yankees Saturday acquired right-handed pitcher Kerry Wood and cash considerations from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash. Wood, 33, is 1-4 with eight saves and a 6.30 ERA in 23 relief appearances with the Cleveland Indians this season. He has held opponents scoreless in nine of his last 11 appearances, striking out 10 batters in 9.2IP over the stretch. Wood was reinstated off the 15-day disabled list Saturday, after being out since July 12 with a blister on his right index finger. He began the season on the disabled list with a strained right lat, suffered in spring training and was activated on May 7.
